Aurora Colindres

Experience: Aurora (She/Her/Ella) founded Power for Good Consulting with a heart for liberation. For 20 years, Aurora has partnered with visionary leaders of color, frontline organizations, and social change funders to co-create a just future for ALL.  As a fundraising leader, she is dedicated to fueling the work of the social justice movement.  Born in Panama and raised in Florida, her undocumented reality as a youth sparked her activism.  Later moving to Los Angeles, she built a career by helping advance the work of organizations committed to unhoused services, anti-poverty policy, green park equity, and immigrant rights. Her expertise and philanthropic relationships led her to establish a consulting practice that seeks to build capacity for power-building, BIPOC-led groups. Aurora also bridges these doers with future-thinking donors by engaging philanthropy and insisting on trust-based giving for the movement.

She is an accomplished development consultant, strategic planning coach, facilitator, and speaker whose work has been featured in the book ‘Fundraising for Social Change.’  As a culture curator she hosts the panel series: Tracing the Lines – Where the issues meet the arts and curates The Reset, a community gathering centering arts and healing for justice leaders.  She is part of several practitioner networks and an active member of HIP, EPIP, Consultants for Good, and a Blackbaud Fellow.  She is a dancer, beach lover, and proud Tia of 6. Her motto is Each One, Teach One.

Education:  Aurora is a graduate of the University of Central Florida where she received a BSBA in Marketing and International Business.  She is a Certified Impact Philanthropy Advisor, Peace & Justice Institute Facilitator, and leadership coach.

Skills: Sustainability assessments, strategic development planning, grants management, funder profiling and prospecting, individual giving campaigns and major donor cultivation, team facilitation and convening, funding movement strategy, community engagement, landscape analysis, CSR consulting.

Equilibrium is: Getting lost in dance, swimming at the beach, hanging out with my niece and 5 nephews, thrifting, traveling, tending to my plants, admiring architecture and supporting historical preservation.  My greatest form of recalibration is on a mat, moving through yoga poses in a very hot room.
