Bill Pitkin

Experience: Bill has worked in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors for over 30 years, in fields as diverse as teaching, community organizing, research, planning, and philanthropy. Since 2019, he has advised organizations and foundations on catalyzing social change and equity through investments in collaborative leadership and systems and policy change. He is also Senior Policy Fellow at the Urban Institute, where he oversees work on upward mobility in the Research to Action Lab. Previously, Bill was Director of Domestic Programs at the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, leading the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of domestic priority areas (homelessness, transition age foster youth, substance use prevention, and youth workforce development).

Education: Bill received B.A. and M.A. degrees in Theological Studies from Wheaton College (IL), followed by M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from UCLA.

Skills: Bill excels in: program development, management, and evaluation; strategic planning; research and data analysis; participatory methods; public policy development and advocacy; housing justice and community development policy and practice.

Equilibrium is: Long walks and hikes, spending time with family, cooking and baking, watching fútbol, reading in bed, and doing what he can to advance racial and social justice.
