The Challenge

EQ Collaborative partnered with a state coastal agency to integrate environmental justice principles into its sea level rise policies. The initiative focused on engaging environmental justice advisors in a participatory process to develop comprehensive policy guidance. EQ’s facilitation ensured that these community voices were central to shaping policies aimed at addressing the impacts of climate change equitably and effectively.

Our Approach

EQ Collaborative led a multi-faceted approach to support the agency’s policy development efforts:

• Stakeholder Engagement: Planned and facilitated in-person and virtual meetings to engage advisory group members, fostering open dialogue and collaboration.

• Logistical Support: Provided expert facilitation and managed logistics, including honorariums and expenses, to ensure the smooth execution of meetings and workshops.

• Best Practices Documentation: Compiled insights from the advisory group sessions into a best practices document to guide future engagement efforts.

• Policy Development Support: Supported the integration of advisor input regarding environmental justice into the policy guidance documents.
