Ned Resnikoff

Experience: Ned is an analyst, researcher, journalist, and consultant with 15 years of experience navigating some of America’s most complex policy challenges. He has worked on everything from K-12 education to health care, but his primary focus is housing and overlapping areas of urban policy. In addition to his work as a consultant, he is currently a fellow at the Roosevelt Institute.

Ned was previously the policy director for California YIMBY (“Yes in My Backyard”), which is working to end California’s housing crisis through state-level policy change. Prior to that, he served as policy manager for the UCSF Benioff Housing and Homelessness Initiative, an academic institute that researches and advocates for evidence-based strategies to end homelessness. He has also worked as a fiscal and policy advisor to the California state legislature.

In addition, Ned is a seasoned journalist and editor with bylines in The New York Times, msnbc.com, The New Republic, The San Francisco Chronicle, and various other publications. He is currently working on a book about cities for Island Press, with an expected publication date of Fall 2026.

Education:  BA in Philosophy from New York University and a Masters in Public Policy from University of California Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy.
